The Eaglette has landed (Thursday night)

Delta Airlines brought the best present ever tonight:  Anna Rachel!  It was worth the wait while Immigration fingerprinted her, and she retrieved her luggage.  It was worth it to stand outside and watch people pass.  It was worth it because when I saw her, it was all I could do not to jump for joy!  The Eagle(tte) has landed indeed!

For those of you who weren't around then, "The Eagle has landed" was what the Apollo 11 astronauts said to Mission Control when their lunar lander, the Eagle, landed on the moon, only hours before Neil Armstrong became the first human to walk on the moon, saying, "That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind" as he stepped on the lunar surface.  These phrases are indelibly writing on the hearts those of us who watched this process in awe, on July 20, 1969.

So it seems appropriate to me to use these same words now that my beloved daughter is walking on Panamanian soil.

The Eagle(tte) has, indeed, landed, and what a time we're going to have together!
